How it works
Two detection modes
Radio waves find what transmits. Infrared finds the lens. Together they cover what one mode alone would miss.
Sweep for signals.
Pull out the antenna and turn the sensitivity down until it's quiet. Then move slowly over each spot. The detector beeps near devices that transmit, like a wireless camera.
A beep alone isn't proof. Routers, TVs and your own phone transmit too. That's why there's a second detection mode.
Look for the lens.
Turn off the lights, lift the red viewfinder and look through it. A hidden lens shows up as a small bright dot that stays put while you move.
This works even on cameras that only record to a memory card and send no signal at all.
Why not just use your phone?
A phone flashlight can catch a lens if you already know where to look. The detector is built for the whole job.
